When I stepped up to the window of the old dining hall to take this photo I was not expecting to feel anything other than the need to photograph the fireplace before the wrecking ball hit. The Presidents of Toccoa Falls College

During the history of the institution, there have been six presidents: Dr. Richard A. Forrest, Founder; Dr. Julian A. Bandy; Dr. Kenn W. Opperman; Dr. Paul L. Alford; Dr. Donald O. Young, and Dr. W. Tragedy Strikes — The Flood of 1977

During the early morning hours of November 6, 1977, after five days of almost continual rain, the dam that impounded the waters of Kelly Barnes Lake [located above the Toccoa Falls College campus] burst, and 176 million gallons of water surged through the campus below in the space of a few minutes.
