Faithful and True By Mrs. Evelyn Forrest

” As I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord they God is with thee withersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:5-9).

Joshua’s source of strength and confidence in the great military campaign he was about to undertake rested in the Word of God and God’s promise of His presence. The same is truth for you today. Whatever the battle, whatever the conflict, Jesus is your strength, but you must trust Him—roll whatever complaint or problem that is harassing your heart over on to Him and allow Him to bear it for you. This is His personal promise to you: “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you: I will not fail you, nor forsake you. Therefore be strong, courageous—full of godly confidence—and never dismayed for I Am (the sovereign God of the universe) with you.”

After His resurrection, Jesus told the disciples, “All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations . . . to observe all thing whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:18-30). I cannot imagine the weight of duty and responsibility these men must have felt. And yet amazingly, each one fulfilled God’s call. How can you do the same? There is only one way: set your eyes on Jesus and trust Him to give you the strength you need not only for today but also for every day. He is faithful. He is true. And He will not fail you.
