Thursday, April 10
Mediterranean Sea Champollion
9:00 a.m. Breakfast in our cabin. This is certainly restful not to have to dress until after you have had your coffee. Cold is better today am so glad we came on instead of going home from Marseilles.
Passed close to the Island of Malta immediately after lunch today. This is a very historic Island. (Acts 27-28) It now belongs to England. Here the Crusaders had their headquarters while making a water attack on Jerusalem.
Napoleon stopped here when pursued by the English Fleet, who supposing he had gone to Alexandria sailed on while he was screened by a fog. Later he passed them and succeeded in landing his army at Alexandria before his fleet was sunken by the English fleet. Just before the battle of the Pyramids.
8:00 am. Mr. Washburn gave a very interesting account of General Allenby’s entrance into Jerusalem. Mrs. Washburn gave two poems. Richard spoke on Africa for a few minutes.

Friday, April 11
Mediterranean Champollion
9:00 a.m. Breakfast in our cabin. Dressed just in time for lunch. The sun is shining brightly and the sea is blue as indigo. This is a very restful trip. It is good to see Dad really resting.
12:00 noon. Lunch, such delicious fish we have both eaten so much fish. I am sure we would swim at once if thrown overboard.
7:00 p.m. Dinner I dressed in my brown evening dress, for this is the big event, the offering for the “Seaman.†Mr. Washburn spoke on Cairo and Jerusalem during the big dance next door, he was so good. “Aimee†did not appear after dinner, she was dressed in green tonight. Roberta in the same shade watched the dance.
The moon is full and shining on the water with glory beyond words to describe. After a walk on deck we retired.
