Remembering Christmas

Almost everywhere you go Christmas music can be heard. Stores and homes are decorated. Christmas trees are shining brightly with all their lights and ornaments. Gifts are wrapped with pretty paper and ribbon. The mailbox is full of Christmas cards and invitations to parties. All this is in preparation to celebrate a special day of the year—December 25. In the activities of Christmas, it is easy to forget the real reason for celebration is that Christ our Lord was born in a manger in Bethlehem.

As the Christmas music plays in your home or car, listen to the lyrics and remember what a miracle it is that Christ came to earth. As you give gifts to friends and family, remember the greatest gift ever given—the gift of God’s love and eternal life. As you go to parties or spend time with others, remember that not everyone is experiencing Christmas joy. Take a minute to listen and share an encouraging word.

Christmas is truly a special time.

    Joy To The World, words by Isaac Watts

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the world, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.
