From The President
Dr. Wayne Gardner, President of Toccoa Falls College
Dear Alumni and Friends,
I’m convinced that many those who have gone before us at Toccoa Falls College had a deep understanding of what it meant to be a Christian servant leader. They also understood what it meant being REAL in their faith. They knew this meant being a witness for Jesus Christ—not just to their peers but also to the world around them. They didn’t just talk about godliness; they lived it each day.
Like us, they faced many trials. They were not above their problems, but they allowed God to teach them how to be victorious and more than conquerors (Romans 8:37-39), and they taught us to do the same. They battled feelings of fear, frustration, and sorrow. They were not perfect; but they had an indescribable sense of joy and peace that could only be attributed to one thing: an intimate relationship with the Savior.
They loved the Lord. They were faithful and dedicated to Him and to the mission of Toccoa Falls College. They didn’t know it, but they were in the process of teaching you and me through word and deed. I believe that their “lessons of faith” are still very much a part of all we do at the college today. We can learn the same truths they learned. We can be REAL in our walk with the Savior and allow Him to live in us so that others will seek to do the same.
Those who went before us are the true world changers. And I believe the faculty and staff at the college today are among this same class of godly men and women. These are extreme times—times when there is only one thing that matters and that is our relationship to God and to His Son.
I often thank the Lord that those who were leaders on this campus cared about me, spent time with me, and taught me what it meant to follow Jesus Christ. Now it is up to us to pass these lessons on to our students so that a new generation will learn what it means to be real, reliable, and receptive to becoming Christian servant leaders.
I believe the words to the song “Find Us Faithful” speak directly to what God is calling each of us to do when it comes to Toccoa Falls College. The second verse particularly contains a deeply important message:
Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,
Let us run the race not only for the prize,
But as those who’ve gone before us,
Let us leave to those behind us,
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives.
Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful,
May the fire of our devotion light their way,
May the footprints that we leave,
Lead us to believe,
And the lives we live inspire them to obey,
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful.
Together in His service,

Dr. W. Wayne Gardner
President
